Adding value to byproducts

Bio-extraction

A CRAFT-supported project in which we participate is directed at the recovery of valuable organic compounds from dilute aqueous waste streams by a unique bio-method.

GTBE

We are partners in a EUREKA project – supported by our Government – aimed at creating very large-scale uses for the increasing amounts of glycerin coproduced with fast-growing biodiesel manufacture. The first project is about producing t-butyl ethers of glycerine (GTBE ® )that find use as soot-reducing additives in (bio) diesel fuels. Together with Procede Group B.V. (www.procede.nl) we formed The GTBE Company NV for the purpose. A fairly large demo plant is in the engineering stage.

Iodine

Iodine containing waste- or by-product streams of any kind are of interest to us. We use a dedicated custom plant to recover elemental iodine.

Niobium and tantalum compounds

We developed a method for the recovery of niobium and tantalum compounds from waste of wafer manufacture.  We are interested in additional sources of such cuttings or similar (waste) materials.

Rare Earth Metal Oxides

We are partners in a project – helped along by a CRAFT grant from the European Commission – for the recovery of rare earth metal oxides from waste fluorescent lamps and from cathode ray tubes (CRTs) in end-of life TVs and computers. On realization we will be marketing the oxides.

Resorcinol- and Bisphenol A homologues

Applications for a large-volume byproduct containing a range of resorcinol-homologues have been developed. (see data sheet Honeyol)

We are also working on extending the uses of Bisphenol Resin, consisting of a mixture of Bisphenol A and homologues (see data sheet Bisphenol Resin).
